My name is Brian LaMar. I remember when I first picked up a camera and took a picture. It was a foggy day in Washington, and a friend had let me hold his camera. As soon as I heard the shutter click, I became obsessed. I began to see the world in pictures and within a few days my first camera was delivered. I wasted no time, and instantly began to photograph scenes around my house, watching instructional videos, and reading photography books to quench my desire to become a photographer. After having my camera for a few weeks I went to Paris and started to photograph the life around me. Here is where I became interested in street photography.

I grew up in a house with music and paintings all around me. I started learning art in the form of music at a young age. I was no stranger to the dedication of refining an artistic perspective. I strive to continue to do just that with my photography. I enjoy photographing people, and seeing the pieces of them retained in the photographs. It serves as a reflection of the subject and the photographer when we collaborate to make an image. I find beauty in the mundane, and the extraordinary. I find it in light and shadows, as well as innocence and experience. This is why I photograph, and why I can’t get enough.
